Nora Suggs, flute
Nora Suggs plays both shakuhachi and Western flute. She is a graduate of Houston’s Rice University and Baylor College of Medicine with extensive private education in music and degrees in biology, English literature, medicine and surgery. She has performed in England, Canada, Japan, Italy, Alaska and throughout the continental United States; and is currently active as a teacher, recitalist and chamber musician in Pennsylvania’s Lehigh Valley, teaching and performing both instruments.
Dr. Suggs is the flutist and artistic director of the Pennsylvania-based chamber music ensemble, SATORI, and has taught for Bethlehem’s Moravian College and the Community Music School of the Lehigh Valley. She has performed and recorded for almost fifteen years in duos of classical guitar and flute. Dr. Suggs studies shakuhachi with Dai-ShihanShihan James Nyoraku Schlefer. She received (Master) licensure from his New York City Kyo-Shin-An dojo and Dai-Shihan Kurahashi Yoshio II of Kyoto, Japan.

Candice Mowbray, classical guitar
Appearing as a soloist, chamber musician and guest lecturer, Candice Mowbray has been a featured artist at many festivals and concert series such as the Bethlehem Guitar Festival, Knoxville Guitar Society, Austin Peay GuitarFest, LoneStar Guitar Festival, Charlottesville Guitar Festival, Philadelphia Classical Guitar Series, An Die Musik in Baltimore, Ibero-American Guitar Festival at the Smithsonian Museum of the American Indian and Guitar Foundation of American Convention in Los Angeles. She has performed with the Maryland Symphony Orchestra, ProArte Chamber Orchestra of Greater Washington, Satori Chamber Ensemble, National String Symphonia and Washington National Opera the Kennedy Center. Her recent solo CD, Reverie, has been met with positive acclaim and was featured on radio shows such as InTune (BBC Radio 3), The Intimate Guitar (Dayton, OH), G-Strings with Tom Cole (Washington D.C.), WMNR Fine Arts Radio (Monroe, CT) and Musica Mundi (Boulder, CO). Classical Guitar Magazine called the release "a revelation" and one of the Top 10 picks of the year.
Mowbray earned the Doctorate of Musical Arts in classical guitar performance at Shenandoah Conservatory where she studied guitar with Dr. Glenn Caluda. Also influential were private lessons and masterclasses with numerous international concert artists including Berta Rojas, Carlos Barbosa-Lima, Sharon Isbin, Angel Romero, Roland Dyens, and Ricardo Cobo. Dr. Mowbray has taught courses in music and the broader humanities for several colleges in the mid-Atlantic region including Shenandoah Conservatory and Hagerstown Community College. She maintains a private studio of students and teaches workshops and classes while enjoying a busy performance career. In addition to performing and teaching, Candice enjoys writing, research and volunteering with arts organizations.
